Green bites
Broccoli cheese balls make a delicious finger food for holiday parties.
Also, you can make them as a green side dish, and your kids will think you are the coolest parent ever.
Next to a hot burger, I think these balls are the best companion ever.
Crispy on the outside with a crumb coating and totally cheesy on the inside with 2 kinds of cheese, the little bits of fresh broccoli are totally coated in gooey, melted cheese.

This recipe has a few steps, but is very easy to put together and is so delicious. The ingredients are simple, and once you get the hang of breading and frying making these are a breeze.
These broccoli bites can also be baked if you aren't into frying, and can be frozen for later use. Enjoy!
Here are ingredients for a 4-serving recipe (12 balls):
100 g Provolone cheese
400 g broccoli
1 egg
3 tablespoons bread crumbs
2 tablespoons grated Pecorino cheese
seeds oil
salt and pepper
2 tablespoons grated Pecorino cheese
seeds oil
salt and pepper
- Start by cleaning the broccoli: cut the stem and rinse them under running water. Then, cut the top of the florets and use a clean towel to soak up any excess water
- Cut broccoli into small pieces
- Boil water in a pot, add salt and once started to bubble, pour the broccoli. Let them cook for 20 minutes, then drain them
- Meanwhile, heat oil in a pan
- Put boiled broccoli on a plate, and smash them with a fork
- In a medium bowl, mix the bread crumbs, salt and pepper. Spread the mixture onto a large piece of wax paper
- In another bowl mix the broccoli with the egg, the grated Pecorino cheese, the cubed Provolone cheese to obtain a smooth mixture
- Form the broccoli cheese mixture into balls and roll in the bread crumb mixture until thoroughly coated
- Deep fry the balls until golden brown, about 5 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
