Octopus in tomato sauce

Enjoy this traditional recipe from my Sicilian grandma, which makes a very flavorful sauce for octopus with tomatoes.

It requires few ingredients, a short preparation and it can be served over spaghetti, or just on its own.
What more could you want?
 

Here's what you will need for the 4-serving recipe:
  

1 kg octopus
1 clove garlic
20 cherry tomatoes
EVO oil
salt and pepper

 

  1. Pour 2 tablespoons of EVO oil in a large pot,. When it is hot, add the clove of garlic. When it is golden, add the cherry tomatoes
  2. As soon as the tomatoes have softened, remove the garlic and blend them, in the pot
  3. Put the octopus on a cutting board. Cut the tentacles just below their junction to the body
  4. Add the octopus and, lowering the heat to low, cover the pot with a lid. Let it cook for about 50 minutes
  5. Serve with freshly ground pepper on top
